Today is World Water Day 2020
The theme of today’s World Water Day is: Water and Climate Change
Both aspects are strongly linked. Climate adaptation measures in the water sector are necessary for our society. However, greenhouse gases can also be reduced by using water more efficiently. For example, the growing world population is increasing the pressure on water reserves. If these are polluted or even destroyed, this has serious consequences for us humans as well as for our flora and fauna.
Our MEDUWA-Vecht(e) project makes it clear that pharmaceutical residues are also released into the environment. They form an invisible danger, which in too large quantities can endanger our health. It is therefore all the more important to have an intact nature, because it also offers the possibility of reducing these residues.
The UN calls on each and every one of us to be careful and to handle the resource with care. For example, by using water sparingly or not to discharge any hazardous substances into wastewater.
